Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Start by getting your oven ready so that it’s at the perfect temperature for baking your crust.
-
Prepare the crust. In a medium bowl, combine the vanilla wafer crumbs with the melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are fully coated. This mixture is going to create a tremendous base for your cheesecake.
-
Form the crust. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9-inch springform pan. Try to make it even to ensure a perfect layer when you serve the cheesecake.
-
Make the filling. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. This step is crucial, as you want a creamy and luscious filling without lumps.
-
Incorporate bananas and vanilla. Add the mashed bananas and vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture, mixing until everything is well combined. The bananas will provide a wonderful fruitiness that pairs delightfully with the cheese.
-
Add the whipped cream. Gently fold in the whipped cream into the mixture. This step will lighten the filling, making it airy and more delightful.
-
Combine layers. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the springform pan. Spread it out evenly with a spatula for that perfect finish.
-
Set the cheesecake. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set. This chilling time allows the cheesecake to firm up, ensuring a tremendous texture when served.
-
Garnish and serve. Before serving, add banana slices on top and sprinkle some additional vanilla wafers as a lovely finishing touch.
