Banana Oatmeal Bars

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Begin by lining a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper. This makes it much easier to lift the bars out after baking.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, nut butter, rolled oats, cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup, chocolate chips, and salt. Stir these ingredients together until they are well combined, and the mixture takes on a tremendous, thick consistency.

  3. Transfer the mixture into the lined baking pan. Use a spatula to evenly flatten the mixture into a flat layer across the bottom of the pan. If you’d like, sprinkle some extra chocolate chips on top for a more indulgent treat!

  4. Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Keep a close eye on the edges; they should turn golden brown while the center appears set.

  5. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely. This helps to firm them up, making it much easier to cut them into squares without crumbling.
