Avocado Garlicky Mushroom Toast

Directions

  1. Start by cleaning the chestnut mushrooms under running water. Once cleaned, slice them into even pieces to ensure uniform cooking.

  2. In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic to the oil and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. The tremendous aroma that fills your kitchen will be simply irresistible.

  3. Carefully add the sliced mushrooms to the pan. Sauté them for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender.

  4. Once the mushrooms are beautifully browned, pour in the tamari sauce. Toss in the thyme leaves and sprinkle with black pepper, stirring everything together. Allow the mixture to cook for another 2-3 minutes to let those tremendous flavors combine.

  5. While the mushrooms finish cooking, toast the slices of bread. Use a toaster or a grill to achieve that lovely crunch.

  6. In a small bowl, mash the ripe avocado with a fork. You can choose to keep it chunky or make it smooth, depending on your preference.

  7. Spread the mashed avocado generously on the toasted bread, covering it to create a creamy base.

  8. Top each slice of avocado-covered toast with the garlicky mushroom mixture. Serve warm and enjoy the wonderful balance of flavors!
