Apple Cinnamon Swirl Loaf with Easy Homemade Caramel Glaze

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.

  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. This combination will create a tremendous base for your loaf that will enhance the flavors of the added ingredients.

  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. The fluffiness is key to achieving a moist loaf. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream, creating a smooth mixture.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix as this can lead to a dense loaf. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if you choose to use them for that extra crunch and texture.

  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over this layer. Add the remaining batter on top, and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect. This step adds visual appeal and flavor throughout the loaf.

  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The aroma that fills your kitchen during baking will be tremendously rewarding and will have everyone eagerly waiting.

  7. While the loaf cools, prepare the caramel glaze. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Then whisk in the brown sugar and heavy cream. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes and then stir in the vanilla extract. This will create a luxurious glaze that will complement your loaf beautifully.

  8. Drizzle the warm caramel glaze over the loaf before serving. The warm glaze will absorb slightly into the loaf, making it even more delicious.
