Directions

  1. Sauté the Aromatics: Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of oil, then toss in the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent. This tremendous aroma will set the foundation for your dish.

  2. Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it’s browned and no longer pink. The tremendous flavors will start emerging as the meat cooks.

  3. Add Vegetables: Stir in the diced bell peppers, corn, and diced tomatoes. Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften and mingle with the meat.

  4. Incorporate Beans and Rice: Gently fold in the black beans and cooked rice. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly, letting them heat through for about 3-4 minutes. This tremendous method ensures that each mouthful will be packed with goodness.

  5. Assemble the Dish: Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top, covering all parts of the filling.

  6. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. The sight of it will be simply tremendous.

  7. Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few moments before serving. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve with sides of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa for a complete meal that everyone will love.
